Instructions to create a Velanora Digital Memorial
A Velanora Memorial is built as a full-screen emotional journey. As the Custodian, you decide how that journey begins, how it flows, and how it concludes.

Build your memorial
LifeSlides
LifeSlides provide the core of the Memorial experience.
In Create Memorial, LifeSlides are shown as thumbnails so you can preview, reorder, and edit the Memorial journey.
A LifeSlide is either a Photo LifeSlide or a Story LifeSlide. It is never both.
Add to Life
Use these actions in the Life section to build the Memorial journey.
Autoplay & Duration
LifeSlides autoplay automatically.
- You choose how long each LifeSlide appears
- Duration can be set from 1 to 30 seconds
- LifeSlides play in the order you arrange them
Add a Photo LifeSlide
- Go to the Life section
- Select Add Photo
- Upload an image
- Set the duration (1–30 seconds)
- Save
Supported formats: JPG, JPEG, PNG, WEBP.
A Photo LifeSlide can be marked as the Primary Photo.
Portrait or near-portrait photos often display more comfortably across phones, tablets, and larger screens.
Add a Story LifeSlide
- Go to the Life section
- Select Add Story
- Enter your text
- Set the duration (1–30 seconds)
- Save
Shorter story text is usually easier to read. LifeSlides are designed to be read without scrolling, particularly on mobile devices.
You may edit, review, and refine story text at any time.
Final LifeSlide (End Template)
The Memorial journey ends with the End Template.
- Primary Photo
- Name of the departed
- Date of birth and date of death
- End Template message (defaults to "In Loving Memory" — you may choose any message and edit it at any time)
Select a Colour Theme
Each Memorial has a colour theme that defines the background colour used throughout the Memorial journey.
As the Custodian, you select the colour theme during creation and may change it at any time.
- The selected colour theme applies to all LifeSlides
- It provides a consistent visual tone for the Memorial
- The End Template uses the same colour theme for continuity
Select Music
You may select background music for the Memorial.
- Music plays throughout the Memorial journey
- Music automatically fades out during the End Template
The selected music track plays throughout the Memorial and gently loops as the experience continues. Ideally, choose a track whose length suits the Memorial without needing to loop, and preview the music to ensure its timing feels right for the experience.
Music selections can be previewed before making a choice.
Select a Gateway
Every Memorial begins with a Gateway. As the Custodian, you select which Gateway is used.
A preview is available before making your choice.
Before completing your Memorial
Remember to tick the Terms & Conditions box before completing your Memorial.

A memorial remains a trial until it is upgraded.
Expired Trial Memorials
A trial memorial is considered expired once the 7-day trial period has ended and it has not been upgraded.
Expired trial memorials are subject to periodic removal.
Published Memorials
- they may be shared via direct link
- they may appear in search results if the Custodian opts in (Custodian consent)
Sharing via direct link is always available for published memorials.
Troubleshooting
If something doesn’t look right, try the steps below — most issues are resolved quickly.

Image won’t load
+–In some cases, an image may not load if it was added during a trial memorial that has since expired or been removed.
To resolve this:
- Open the affected LifeSlide
- Upload or re-select the image
- Save the LifeSlide
- Select Update Complete Memorial
This will restore the image correctly.
My LifeSlide background is black on mobile
+–
My LifeSlide background is black on mobile
+–On some Android devices (including certain Samsung phones), the system may default to a dark background with light text when displaying full-screen content. This can occur due to device-level settings such as Dark Mode, High Contrast, or other Accessibility display preferences.
In these cases, your Memorial is still displaying correctly — the phone is simply applying its own visual settings.
What you can do:
- Check whether Dark Mode is enabled on the device
- Review Accessibility settings such as High Contrast or Colour Inversion
- Try viewing the Memorial on another device to compare
- Refresh the page after adjusting system display settings
This is normal behaviour on some devices and does not mean anything is wrong with your Memorial. Your content remains safe, unchanged, and will display normally on other phones and screens.
